Coffee explorers & a shot of creativity. On second thoughts, make that a double.
We are located in the heart of KL city, in the old neighborhood of Pudu; VCR brings you fresh coffee daily. The café, built in the 1927 is situated near the old Pudu Jail. The story goes that our lil’ black house in Jalan Galloway was where most wardens used to stay (hence the name Galloway).
Where old architecture meets our modern twist, it’s a place where good things never gets old and it always feels like home. Located in an unsuspecting house, we’re the people responsible for the smell of coffee that permeates the neighbourhood. Run by a team that’s dedicated to always giving you the very best coffee and experience, we believe coffee is the catalyst that brings people together.
We’re a bit introverted, but do say hello to our baristas as we say “Hello, welcome to VCR!”.

a month agoI’d heard about this place and so it was my first stop upon arriving in KL. Nice atmosphere with kind and courteous service from every person I encountered. The menu has various offerings and needing something green, I opted for the salad. It was both beautiful and delicious. The long black was so good, I stayed and had another with a lemon tart for dessert. The tart was wonderful ! I def recommend.

2 weeks agoMay be I set my expectation too high for this cafe. It is okay but nothing above the average, from the vibe, seat comfort, food and coffee. The long black is as tiny as espresso, with a bit more water, the beans are on the acidic spectrum. The English Muffin is good, I like the hint of spiciness added by the sambal chili, better than the commercial chili sauce. Pesto tastes not as strong, it uses arugula instead of basil. Parking is limited (no visible parking lot), better come with Grab.

4 months agoI recently dined at this charming café for both breakfast and dinner, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. For dinner, I had the spaghetti, which was absolutely delicious with a unique fusion twist. It was a bit too spicy for my taste, if you can’t eat spicy food, you can request a milder version when ordering. For breakfast, I tried the signature big breakfast. While it’s a common offering at many cafes, this one stood out with a delightful twist that made it distinctly flavorful. The atmosphere of the café was pleasant, making it a great spot to relax. I was actually recommended this place by a Grab driver who often drops passengers here, although he hadn't tried the food himself. Thanks to his suggestion, I’m glad I didn’t miss out on such delicious meals during my stay in Kuala Lumpur. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that I highly recommend!.

2 months agoI came here for brunch and ordered the Turkish Style Eggs with bread and a gingerbread iced latte. I really enjoyed the Turkish Style Eggs; they tasted great. The drink was also delicious. The café has a second floor, which is more suitable for large families, as the tables downstairs are smaller.

5 months agoLong black is tasty and strong, wakes u up immediately. Nothing to boast of in chicken waffles, but it is definitely fluffy and delicious with the maple syrup. However the signature big breakfast could have been done better. Chicken sausage is dense without flavours, and beef bacon is tough but good that it is not too salty. Scrambled eggs and bread is a good combo that cannot go wrong. Overall delicious and very comfortable place to dine at. They even have a second floor with nice seating
