A Slice of Homegrown Comfort: Kafe Kiri Kanan – Batu Pahat’s Dim Sum Haven
In the bustling heart of Batu Pahat, where modern cafes and trendy restaurants line the streets, lies a haven of old-school charm and nostalgic flavors: Kafe Kiri Kanan. This restaurant isn’t just about dim sum; it’s a gastronomic portal to childhood memories, where steaming baskets of dumplings and the clatter of plates weave tales of family recipes passed down through generations.
Where Tradition Meets Flavor: Forget Michelin-starred restaurants and fancy plating. Kafe Kiri Kanan is a celebration of authentic Cantonese dim sum, prepared with meticulous attention to detail and the freshest ingredients. Their har gow boasts translucent, delicate wrappers enveloping plump prawns that burst with flavor. The siu mai are little bundles of juicy perfection, seasoned to perfection. And their signature Nyonya Asam Nanas Ikan, with its sweet and sour fish bathed in creamy asam sauce, is a true testament to the region’s unique culinary heritage.
Beyond the Classics: While the classics reign supreme, Kafe Kiri Kanan isn’t afraid to inject a touch of culinary magic. Their Portuguese Tart, with its golden, flakey crust and creamy egg custard filling, is a delightful fusion of cultures. The Crispy Carrot Cake is a local favorite, with its savory texture and caramelized edges that melt in your mouth. And for a healthy twist, their Vegetarian Dumplings are a vibrant medley of fresh vegetables, bursting with flavor and goodness.
A Feast for the Senses: The experience at Kafe Kiri Kanan extends beyond the food. The restaurant boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, where familiar chatter fills the air and families gather around steaming baskets, sharing stories and laughter. The kampung-style décor, with its rustic charm and vintage touches, adds to the sense of nostalgia. It’s like stepping into your grandmother’s kitchen, filled with the aroma of delicious food and the warmth of loved ones.

a week agoThe food here is very good. The ambience of the place brings you to a nyonya setup in the olden days.We hadSweet and Spicy Nyonya Asam Fish - 10/10 Salted Fish Fried Rice - 10/10 Chicken chop - 9/10 Kaya & Butter toast - 6/10. The kaya is too sweet, overwhelming the coconut flavour. So this gets a lower rating.Curry puffs - 7/10 Sambal tumis - 10/10The sambal tumis was so good we bought many jars to go

a week agointerior lawaaaa, very aesthetic and classic vibes. services, ok la. friendly staf, waiting period quite long, maybe due to full customers. was ordered grilled chicken, spagetti aglio olio with chicken chop and salted egg chicken chop. i would say they have unique taste of blackpepper sauce and its good. The chicken was fried perfectly — crispy on the outside — but the meat had a strange, almost rotten taste. Something wasn’t right with the freshness. spageti good. the price a bit pricy. 3 main dishes and 2 drinks - RM91
