A Slice of Homegrown Comfort: Kafe Kiri Kanan – Batu Pahat’s Dim Sum Haven
In the bustling heart of Batu Pahat, where modern cafes and trendy restaurants line the streets, lies a haven of old-school charm and nostalgic flavors: Kafe Kiri Kanan. This restaurant isn’t just about dim sum; it’s a gastronomic portal to childhood memories, where steaming baskets of dumplings and the clatter of plates weave tales of family recipes passed down through generations.

Where Tradition Meets Flavor: Forget Michelin-starred restaurants and fancy plating. Kafe Kiri Kanan is a celebration of authentic Cantonese dim sum, prepared with meticulous attention to detail and the freshest ingredients. Their har gow boasts translucent, delicate wrappers enveloping plump prawns that burst with flavor. The siu mai are little bundles of juicy perfection, seasoned to perfection. And their signature Nyonya Asam Nanas Ikan, with its sweet and sour fish bathed in creamy asam sauce, is a true testament to the region’s unique culinary heritage.

Beyond the Classics: While the classics reign supreme, Kafe Kiri Kanan isn’t afraid to inject a touch of culinary magic. Their Portuguese Tart, with its golden, flakey crust and creamy egg custard filling, is a delightful fusion of cultures. The Crispy Carrot Cake is a local favorite, with its savory texture and caramelized edges that melt in your mouth. And for a healthy twist, their Vegetarian Dumplings are a vibrant medley of fresh vegetables, bursting with flavor and goodness.

A Feast for the Senses: The experience at Kafe Kiri Kanan extends beyond the food. The restaurant boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, where familiar chatter fills the air and families gather around steaming baskets, sharing stories and laughter. The kampung-style décor, with its rustic charm and vintage touches, adds to the sense of nostalgia. It’s like stepping into your grandmother’s kitchen, filled with the aroma of delicious food and the warmth of loved ones.

Cosy and pretty cafe in an old building. Food was delicious and well presented. The bear art on the ice tea is so creative and cute. Must order this drink. The workers are so friendly and helpful. I like the black pepper sauce taste really good. The hot drink served really hot. Thats what we want. Some places serve hot drink but its already warm. This cafe is suitable for big family as they're spacious.Anyway this cafe don't have halal cert yet. But I like the explaination given by the staff on this matter. Their chef and staffs are mostly malays. The groceries and butchers suppliers are halal Jakim. They even can arrange the malay chef to meet me if I want. Thats make me confident to dine in the cafe. Thank you for being honours. Hope you will get the halal jakim cert asap.

This is our favourite place to go once a week, and we almost always sit at the same spot. Today we've had the privilege to talk to the manager, she has such a sweet persona! Lively and friendly ^^. The food here is good, the service is amazing, i'm always impressed with the staff because each one of them (including the new ones) memorizes the whole menu! And they have a loooot of food, so kudos to them! 👏👏👏 anyway, my family's favourite items to order are: Hainanese nasi ayam, Sup ayam kampung (packed with vegies and chicken), Aglio olio seafood spicy (MY FAV), Lontong (filling for breakfast), All the roti bakar variant (pair with telur goyang and kopi/kopi o), Golden salted egg kentang goreng, Kiddy nasi lemak nugget (for kids), Pure halia teh tarik, homemade lemon tea, and the juices (so refreshing) Jalan rahmat branch honestly is the best branch of Kafe Kiri Kanan 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Nice ambience and food. The bear ice coffee cincau and tea are unique and limited per customer. We are lucky to have two.

Last year I went to this restaurant with my siblings and nephew. The moment you enter the restaurant, you can see the traditional decorations. They provide Malaysia local cuisine, such as Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rice, Roti Bakar and many more. The waitress also reacts fast enough with our order and serving. The food and drinks were delicious and an appropriate portion. I recommend it for tourists that wish to experience Malaysia local cuisine.
