wins by default by location on busy, yet food bereft, section of penang road opposite komtar.laksa is fishy and punchy, with asam and kantan leading the charge. heat is grab-by-throat intense. addition of heh koh mid-bowl mellows things down. beware counter-attack at bottom of bowl though.stall advertises itself as (heart) penang, but there's greater complexity here.pohpiah is tasty and just right degree of soppy. which means to say skin is suggestive, yet uncompromised. hits spot with gentleness and subtlety.

The food here is good including Siam chicken rice and Asam laksa besides its famous red beans ice with ice cream. You may choose durian flavor ice cream with additional price. This is old F&b shop so don’t expect well decorated environment. No aircond too. Can pay using TNG ewallet here. Worth to pay a visit.

An old coffee shop beside busy Penang Road. Famous for the authentic durian ice kacang and chicken rice. Laksa is nice also.

Good old time coffee shop with stalls with hawker food. As with other reviews, some dish tastes are missing from the laksa, toast, char kuey teow, teh, cham. I like that the auntie would leave out the ingredients I don't fancy. Perhaps you have better luck. We'll be back to try the chicken rice and the desserts.

Today, with the company of friends, I finally had the pleasure of trying it out.Asam Laksa: 7.5/10 The Asam Laksa lived up to its reputation with a burst of flavors. While the broth was tangy and rich, I'd rate it a 7.5 out of 10 for its distinctive taste.Char Koay Teow (CKT): 7/10 The CKT had a decent flavor profile, but the wok hei could use a bit more finesse. I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10. Still enjoyable, but there's room for improvement.Durian Ice-cream Ice Kacang: 9/10 Now, this was a delightful surprise! The Durian Ice-cream Ice Kacang stole the show with a remarkable 9 out of 10. The durian ice-cream was incredibly flavorful, and what impressed me more was the jelly layers, each boasting a different flavor. A perfect symphony of sweetness and durian goodness.Overall, Mom's recommendation didn't disappoint. I'll undoubtedly be returning to savor Siam Chicken Rice.
