5 months agoOverall, a decent place for a sunset meal. But please lower the expectations on the Gastro Dining part. The food was good. I'm expecting a little higher as it's a Gastrobar and I have to say it did not surprise me enough. The Portobello Mushroom portion is quite small. The rice beneath was too tough. The scallops are good, the curry is delightful. The Iberico Abanico looks pale on the plate but the portion is good and the flavour is the best among all dishes. Cooked to perfection. The dessert of the day was Earl Grey Panna Cotta, which was quite normal. I really am expecting a bit more effort in the desert but I'm obviously not getting it.Drink-wise, I was recommended the YeetHay Away cocktail... Interesting concept but the concoction was disappointing. It's flat and bland. There's too much ice in it, and the balance of the flavour is off, it's almost a watery PeiParGou Mocktail. I will not recommend it. They said they have house pouring but it was not on the menu... Minus mark for that. The servers were friendly. But not up to par with a gastro dining standard. Despite the less-than-usual busyness there doesn't seem to be any follow-up on meals except serving and taking orders. They did not get my table gestures when I asked for my cutleries to be replaced and instead, placed my damp cutleries from my meal plate on their serviettes... the serviettes are dirty and the cutleries are glued with the papers... Mild disappointment.Nice location. No one was getting the lift. Slightly ghetto setup.

a year agoWe were staying at Belakang Kong Heng, literally one floor below this restaurant so we thought why not do a dinner here. The food turned out to be fantastic. There were pleasant surprises in every dish. My only small little comment is that the plating of the chicken dish didn’t look so good. The 1/3 1/3 1/3 plating looked visually uncomfortable. Perhaps too much of the red sauce. I also hoped that we got a bit more light on our table top to see the colours of our food clearly :) by the way service of the waitresses were 100/100.

9 months agoMost importantly, the food was just fantastic. Fuss free diner without dress code although the dishes are at the fine dining level. We enjoyed the cocktails too. Wish there were wines served by the glass but it’s alright

a year agoFancy restaurant for wedding anniversary trip in Ipoh was hard to come by, but this little hideout on the rooftop of a hole of wall building blew us away with an amazing culinary experience. You can feel the thoughtfulness of the chef even before tasting the food, as each dish was preceded by a detailed introduce by the waitress. We had confit portobello, scallops, smoked Iberico and rack of lamb. Portobello is highly recommended, a combination of local taste with explosion of flavor and texture in your mouth. Scallops are passable, ok but not mind blowing, the veggies garnish was the highlight. Lamb came a bit underwhelming with the portion size, but the huge flavor was more than enough to make up for it. The pork also has a great spectrum of flavor to satisfy the most demanding palette. It’s a restaurant I’d come back to, and that says a lot about a restaurant. Hope you discover this little gem in this lovely city too.
